I hope I'm not stretching it too much by going w/ the words of the song "America the Beautiful". I'm still humming it in my head every time I look at this card, lol.
I love Patriotic cards & images & there's nothing finer than the old red, white & blue. I cut a section of designer paper that included the flag & attached it on a navy blue layer. The eagle & musical sentiment were stamped w/ denim ink & colored w/ Copics. I die cut it using the out of the box Nestie technique. With the die in place, I sponged a little antique linen ink on it. This was a left over piece of vanilla c/s and I think it must have been around a long time because when I removed the die, I noticed some fine cracking when I bent it. I kind of liked it & to me, it went w/ the distressed look so I used it. I added a few stamped & punched out stars next to it. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.
Thanks so much for looking! Dare you to NOT start humming the song, lol. It's just been blogged: The Write Stuff

Julie, your patriotic cards of late are just sensational! You inspire me to get on my 4th of July cards. Love the design of this one and your eagle. Well done!

What a wonderful image, and a great card, too. I like the layered deckle rectangles, and the unintentional distress look you got with the Antique Linen.

I saw this on facebook this AM, Julie, and wow, it is awesome. We lost 4 firefighters last Friday in Houston fire, and when I think of heroes, I think of people like them who put their lives on the line every day they go to work. No men or women are more courageous than our servicemen and women, our police officers, and our firefighters. I pray God does shed His grace on these amazing servants.
